Increase The Value Of Your Property

High efficiency energy systems like GeoExchange add value to your property as soon as they are installed. When you consider both gas and electricity prices are going to get more expensive and that your utilities costs could rise at any given time you realize how unstable our traditional systems are. Imagine that the demand for energy is going to keep growing, and has already grown 25% since the 90’s. Finally, acknowledge that the production and generation of these traditional energy sources creates pollution and damages our environment. It simply makes sense to deduct that a home with lower operating costs, a passive heating and cooling system and a secure energy source will demonstrate its resale value.
*Real Estate studies in California have shown that a property gains $20,000 in value for every $1,000 in operating cost reductions. This means that in many cases, a geo system is virtually a break-even installation from day 1, and operating cost reductions are icing on the cake. We understand that location, location, location is still the make or break of real-estate but energy independence is high on the list.

Curious as to the studies that you
refer to. Are they Canadian in scope?
I wonder if the public needs to
“educate” themselves before the
value is seen – i.e., my friend
with a diesel car had a difficult
time selling it for a premium 7
years ago; now VW stays afloat
with their diesels as the market
has “caught up”. Much thanks,
Michael
The studies we refer to are for solar in California; however, we have realtors here in BC who back this up. We’ve requested locally-obtained information and will post it as soon as we get it.
I agree with the trade-off that the article is up to. Value and Energy Independence. Maybe it has something to do with weighing what is more needed. Today, when you have energy generating device with lesser consumption plus reduction on electric bills, you’d be an ace above all.
Another good resource I found. Read the article and click on the link. It gives you a good idea on your returns when upgrading your home.
