How it works

Three steps, and only one of them is your job

You send a photo

Walk outside, photograph the unit, fill in the form. Your best guess at its age is fine. Nobody expects you to have the paperwork from 1998.

We come and look

Scott or one of our techs visits the shortlisted homes, reads the data plate and confirms the real age. Free, no obligation, no sales pitch at the door.

The oldest one wins

On October 30 we announce the winner live at their house, and install the new system. Everyone else keeps their $500 off.

We drew the boundary where our crews actually work. If we cannot install it, we cannot fairly give it away, so entries are open to homeowners in the Nanaimo–Victoria corridor.

The fine print

Rules and common questions

No purchase necessary. Entry is free and does not obligate you to buy anything.
Eligibility. Open to homeowners 19 or older living between Nanaimo and Victoria, BC. One entry per household and per heat pump.
Entry period. September 15, 2026 at 12:00 am to October 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific.
Prize. One new Daikin heat pump system, supplied and installed by ExchangEnergy, with a retail value of up to $23,000. The actual value of the prize depends on the winning home: its size, the capacity of system required, and the electrical, ductwork and site work the installation involves. In most cases it will be less than the stated maximum. The winner is entitled to the system ExchangEnergy determines is appropriate for their home, not to the maximum value. Any work falling outside a standard installation, and any upgrade the winner elects to make, is the winner's responsibility. No cash alternative, and the prize cannot be transferred.
$500 offer. Every entrant receives $500 off a heat pump installation by ExchangEnergy. It applies to heat pump installations only, not to furnaces, boilers or any other equipment. It has no cash value, cannot be combined with other offers, and must be redeemed on an installation booked before December 31, 2026.
How the winner is chosen. Shortlisted entrants receive a free in-person visit so we can confirm the age of the system from its data plate or serial number. The oldest verified system wins. Where two systems tie, the winner is drawn at random from the tied entries.
Skill-testing question. All entrants must correctly answer the skill-testing question on the entry form.
Verification access. Shortlisted entrants must allow a scheduled visit. Entries that cannot be verified before October 30, 2026 are not eligible.
Use of your photo. By entering you allow ExchangEnergy and anyone it authorises to use your submitted photo, and any footage from a verification or installation visit, in its marketing.
Winner publicity. As a condition of accepting the prize, the winner agrees to ExchangEnergy and anyone it authorises attending their home to photograph and film them, their property and the removal and installation work, and agrees that this material, along with their first name and city, may be used in marketing indefinitely and without further approval or payment. A winner unwilling to take part on these terms forfeits the prize, which then passes to the next oldest verified system.

What if I rent?

The prize is an installation on the property, so entries need to come from the homeowner. If you rent, pass this along to your landlord.

I genuinely don't know how old it is.

That's normal, and it's fine. Pick "no idea" on the form. We read the age off the unit itself when we visit.

Is the verification visit a sales call?

No. A tech confirms the age of the system and leaves. If you want a quote you have to ask for one.

My unit still works. Can I enter?

Yes. This is about age, not condition. A twenty-five-year-old unit that still runs is exactly what we're looking for.

What about a furnace or a boiler?

Heat pumps only, for both the contest and the $500 off. Furnaces, boilers and other equipment are not eligible for either.

When do I find out?

The winner is announced October 30, 2026, revealed live at their home. Everyone who entered hears from us either way.
